From a portrait series of strong women at San Diego Comic Con
Lana Martell, of Washington, D.C., cosplays as the X-Men character Gambit. "I see that there's strides, I almost cried watching Wonder Woman, all those strong women in the first scenes on the island was striking to me," said Martell. "[Growing up] I wanted to be Han Solo instead of Princess Leia, I wanted to fly the ship. I wanted to be Wolverine, I wanted to be Gambit.... I wanted to be MacGyver, and I was really disappointed when they told me I couldn't be MacGyver because I was a girl.... I am optimistic, you have to be...but I'm excited that little girls get to grow up with Wonder Woman."
